Pipe bundle of electrical cables - TERRA-JET DJ 10
Pipe bundle of electrical cables laid at the military airport in Payerne
A Swiss contractor had to lay a pipe bundle for electricity underneath the new part of the military airport in Payerne. He had to lay 9x HDPE pipes ø 132 mm over a length of 45 m and a depth up to 10m. The drill path was extremely challenging, because half of the distance had to be laid underneath a river where locating was difficult. The necessary entry angle of the drill path was almost 60 %, the distance between the electrical cables had to be 0.5 m next to each other.
Efficient HDD drill TERRA-JET DJ 10
The Swiss contractor decided to purchase a TERRA-JET DJ 10 to drill fulfil this challenging jobsite. The training of the machine was done by TERRA experts on site. The contractor used also his new locating system Falcon F2 to precisely locate the drill head. Due to the soft ground conditions the contractor used a special clay and sand inhibitor. With up to 95 ltr/min of drilling volume the DJ 10 could easily manage this task.
The 2 m long drill rods of the DJ 10 with a min. bending radius of only 21 m made it much easier for the operator to steer in the ground. The operator chose the drill head C/100 with a width of the steering plate of 100 mm.
For the whole jobsite the contractor needed one week to lay the pipe bundle of 9x HDPE pipes. The contractor and his client were very satisfied with the training and the efficiency of the new machine.
